Jeff Shane now 4 years clean takes us through 4 decades of sex, drugs and rock n roll.  His adventure starts out in 1966 experimenting with all kinds of drugs like mescaline, peyote and marijuana. After college he becomes Vice President of Rock Promotions at Capitol Records handling artists like Bog Segar, Paul McCartney, Queen and the Doobie Brothers. Shortly thereafter he gets into a car accident and hurts his back.  This is where Jeff’s addiction goes into full gear, popping Vicodin all day like they were jelly beans, somas with codeine, tons of weed and lots and lots of cocaine Jeff finally hits Rock Bottom and his journey into recovery begins.

Arielle Spanvill now 6 years clean takes us through her horrific battle with drugs and alcohol. She started at the age of 12 years old getting high on cough syrup with Codeine and quickly turned to narcotic pain relievers when her father passed away. During college she falls in love with a drug dealing ex-con and starts abusing oxytocin and crystal meth. Today Arielle is a graduate of University of Utah with a Master’s Degree in Social Work and is invited to the White House to share her story. Dr. George Baxter-Holder now 15 years clean and the Author of Drugs, Food, Sex and God takes us through 9 years of horrific intravenous methamphetamine abuse. George started using drugs at the age of 16 as a coping mechanism for dealing with his feelings of insecurity when he discovered he was gay.  It quickly progressed into a full blown addiction to Chrystal Meth and he eventually starts living in the streets and dealing drugs to support his very expensive drug habit.  While in his addiction George gets arrested and spends 3 years in prison for drug dealing and it turns out to be the best thing that could have happened to him. It was in jail that George has his first spiritual awakening and his journey into recovery begins.

Gloria Uridel, now 27 years clean and a Y12SR yoga instructor takes us through her shocking battle against drug addiction, alcoholism and Bulimia. Ultimately Gloria hits rock bottom when she gets married and her husband turns her on to crystal meth and her life completely spirals out of control. Randy H. now 15 years sober takes us through 20 years of drug dealing, addiction and alcoholism.  At the age of 18 Randy moves out of his parents’ house and starts selling drugs to maintain his drug habit. A few years later Randy moves to Mexico to sell time shares and begins consuming massive amounts of cocaine and heavily drinking daily. Joins us now as Randy gets the Monkey off of his back and takes us through his amazing journey in Recovery traveling to Machu Picchu, Uganda and Mount Kilimanjaro.

On today’s episode of The SHAIR Podcast Amber Leone Murphy the founder of “Can’t Keep a Sober Girl Down” and the author of “Crushing Codependency” shares with us her incredible battle with alcoholism.  Amber now 9 years sober, started drinking at 8 years old sneaking sips of beer from left over beer cans at family parties. For over 10 years, Amber alcoholism would gradually get worse and worse: drinking on the job, public intoxication, arrested for a DUI, and sleeping in her car. Amber finally hits rock bottom when she moves to New York and ends up in an alcoholic blackout throughout all of 9-11.

Luis P. now 10 years clean, takes us through his life of crime, drug addiction and gangs in Oakland California.  In High School racial segregation was very prevalent the blacks with the blacks, whites with the whites, the Latinos with Latinos so Luis gravitated towards the Mexican gangs.  By the age of 16 Luis was addicted to crack and ended up in the streets robbing, steeling, dealing drugs whatever it took to survive.  Today Luis is a Father, a husband, a friend as well as a responsible productive member of society.  It’s an amazing and inspiring journey of recovery.  Join us now.

On today’s episode I tell my story and take you through 10 years of alcoholism and drug abuse.  I started out drinking and smoking pot in High School as a weekend warrior and later graduated to smoking weed, snorting coke, popping pills and drinking whiskey daily.  During my years of using I was shoplifting, stealing from my employers and selling drugs.  When I finally hit rock bottom I had lost my wife, my friends and almost my life.  It wasn’t until my daughter was born that I was finally able to find recovery.  Join us now.
